Abstract :
Summary form only given. In this paper we report on the successful field demonstration of 10-Gbit/s transmission on the newly installed TPC-5G section undersea cable. Using the same prototype 10-Gbit/s transmitters and receiver/regenerators as the ones used in a previous terrestrial field experiment, we have achieved long-term error-free transmission on a 4230-km long cable with a low bit-error-rate.
