  • Abstract
In order to reduce the blocking artifacts in the video frames, H.264/AVC introduces an in-loop de-blocking filter technique. The main drawback of the filter is its high computational complexity. The determination of Bs consumed the most computational resource, because there were five Bs types for every edge to choose. So in this paper we proposed an optimized method that classified edges into 3 types to which no filter, weak filter and strong filter are applied. The computer simulation results indicate that: compared to the JM13.2 filter algorithm, proposed algorithm can decrease total average computations by 54.9% while maintaining the PSNR and bit rate.
