  • Abstract
A novel low profile 3D “G shape”-planar inverted-F antenna (G-PIFA) working in the DVB-T band (470 - 862 MHz) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) band (2400 - 2483.5 MHz) is presented. The antenna is designed to be integrated in a portable device and must meet severe space requirements. The linearly polarized antenna shows good performance: reflection coefficient<;-6dB, gain between 2.53 and 3.48 dBi over a 59% impedance bandwidth in the DVB-T band and about 4.4 dBi in the WLAN band. A prototype has been realized in an overall volume of 10 × 12 × 218 mm3. The antenna is robust with respect of the presence of many near metal parts. Starting from this solution an additional geometry was derived, the Corner G-PIFA, a new integrated solution to meet space requirements. Results are shown in terms of reflection coefficient, radiation patterns and gain.
