Abstract :
A problem of context effects in the case where human beings judge the psychological impression due to a noise stimulus by use of categorized adjective scale, is studied from the viewpoint that the subjective judgment of the impression can be recognized as a fuzzy logical conduct. The authors introduce a model of truth qualification, well known in fuzzy logic, into the process of the subjective judgment so that the behavior of context can be understood ideally and easily. The study based on fuzzy logic is developed into a practical psychological response model including the concept of randomness. The validity of the viewpoint and the usefulness of the proposed response model is examined by a simulation and by actual data on the context effects. Finally, the relationships and the differences between a conventional psychometric method and this study are discussed
