Abstract :
The paper presents a novel modulated self-adjusting power filter scheme for industrial (3 phase-3 wire) nonlinear loads. These loads are fed by an electrical utility feeder and comprise a composite load window representation of lighting, mortorized loads, industrial process, etc. The novel filter/static compensator simple arm-tuned modulated filter is switched using a ripple-current control regulator and a pulse width triggering circuit. This new modulated filter is a member of a family of smart energy misers/modulated filters. The static compensator/power filter scheme ensures power quality enhancement, load voltage stability, voltage flickering control as well as harmonic reduction for cyclical, arc and inrush-dynamic type loads
