Abstract
The design of a compact asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS)-fed dual-band monopole antenna is presented for Wireless Local Area Network. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular patch loaded with a slit and folded branch line strips at top of the patch. Prototypes of the obtained optimized proposed antenna have been designed, simulated and fabricated. The simulated results validate the proposed antenna design. In addition, a parametric study is conducted to describe the design and optimization process. Stable radiation patterns across the operating bandwidth are observed with good antenna gain over the desired band. The peak gain of the proposed antenna is 5.12 dBi at 6 GHz frequency band.
