Abstract
A prototype tactics expert system has been embedded into the Air Combat Evaluation Model (ACEM) simulation program used in support of avionics systems design. The prototype system has rules for weapon selection and use. It is implemented in the C-Language Integrated Production System. A user interface has also been developed to facilitate use of the ACEM/CLIPS combination by nonexperts. A simple sample problem indicates that execution times for ACEM are increased by about 25% due to the expert system
