Abstract
Fuzzy controllers commence to take an important place as a modern technique in the present-day control world but the lack of a general methodology for the parameter tuning of fuzzy controllers is a major drawback to a more widespread use of this control technique. In this paper we propose an approach to synthesise fuzzy controllers by means of linguistic specifications using evolution strategies. The major issue of the approach is that the linguistic controller performance criteria can now be easily and straightforwardly implemented, avoiding hard to design cost functionals that are usually used
