Abstract :
The Time Warp Operating System runs discrete event simulations in parallel using an optimistic synchronization method based on the theory of virtual time. It has had great success in extracting speedup from many simulations, and is now available for experimental use. The author first discusses how to use the Time Warp Operating System to write and run discrete event simulations. He then covers internal issues of the implementation of the Time Warp Operating System. The design of the system is discussed in connection with such issues as events and rollback, dynamic memory allocation, dynamic object creations, and dynamic load management
