Abstract
A sensor for the measurement of a stationary magnetic field was designed, constructed and tested. The sensor is based on the measurement of an electromagnetic torque. This solution, producing an output directly proportional to the unknown magnetic field, has the main advantage of avoiding the drifts present in the integration of the pick-up coil signals. The design and construction criteria, aiming at an uncertainty of few milliteslas in the field measurement, are described. The analysis of the sensor linearity is presented in the paper together with the test rig, able to guarantee well reproducible conditions
