Abstract :
A combined correlatively encoded/multi-h CPFSK (continuous-phase frequency-shift keyed) signaling technique, which is similar to but significantly better than combined partial response/multi-h signaling, is introduced. Minimum Euclidean distance calculations are used to compare the signaling techniques. Numerical results are reported for binary schemes with 2-h signaling. In addition to the regular 2-h signals, a set of modified 2-h signals which employ two fixed modulation indices according to a preselected pattern is also considered. Numerical results indicate that the combined correlatively encoded/2-h signals can achieve significant gains over both constant h partial response signals, and combined partial response/2-h signals
