Abstract :
We propose a design method for sliding mode (SMC)-type fuzzy control (FLC), which uses a sole fuzzy input variable called a signed distance. We show that the new SMC-type FLC is equivalent to the conventional SMC with a boundary layer. Also, we perform a computer simulation to compare control performances
