Abstract :
Summary form only given. We investigate spatio-temporal chaos through the characterisation of topological properties of the low dimensional manifolds within the system. We extend techniques developed for the analysis of low dimensional dynamics and apply them to a spatially extended system. This approach enables us to extract information about the properties of the nonlinear processes of the system considered. In particular, we investigate spatio-temporal disorder in a liquid crystal light valve with two dimensional feedback and modulated input.
