Abstract :
Summary form only given. Dispersion-management of solitons has recently become a suitable option for the design of ultra-high bit rate communication systems. Such dispersion managed systems are capable of operating near zero average dispersion, thus reducing the Gordon-Haus jitter which otherwise limits the performance of long-distance soliton-based systems and present reduced interaction between adjacent pulses. In a recent paper we showed that multisoliton pulses could be generated in systems in which non-ideal fibre Bragg gratings were used for dispersion management. These multisoliton solutions present shorter ultra-high bit rate the usual for solitonic systems and are able to propagate promising candidates for long-haul communications.
