Abstract
Describes a new method for image sequence interpolation. The approach uses a feature-based image warping algorithm to align linear image features in two or more key frames. We propose modifications to this feature-based warping algorithm which reduce artifacts created in the presence of large distortions. In addition, an algorithm for selecting and tracking the linear features required by the warping algorithm is presented. Combining feature-based image warping with a selection and tracking algorithm results in a novel interpolation scheme in which motion estimates are concentrated near object boundaries and other prominent edges. Results are shown for interpolation of a video teleconferencing sequence
