Abstract :
The method combining the in situ measurement and the numerical simulation is proposed in the paper to study the distribution and variation of the insulation interfacial pressure of the HV cable terminals in both the installation and in service. The strains of the cable terminal are measured using the static or dynamic strain gauge. The reliability of the finite element model is verified by comparing with the measurement results. The distribution and variation of the insulation interfacial pressures are obtained by the thermo-mechanical coupling nonlinear calculations, showing the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method which has practical significance. The insulation interfacial pressure is dependent mainly on the applied voltage. With the increase of the applied voltage, the peak value as well as the amplitude of fluctuation of the interfacial pressure increases.
