Abstract
BBFS is a distributed broadband file system research effort to support data-intensive applications. The LuckyNet gigabit network provides the communications infrastructure for the BBFS prototype, and computation resources are obtained from adjunct processors on LuckyNet´s HPC/VORX distributed computer environment. A discussion is presented of the characteristics of emerging applications and the main ideas of BBFS. A description is also presented of desirable features of a communications interface for LuckyNet application processors
