Abstract
The basic principle of a plankton collector in situ in watertight enclosed packets has been first described at OCEANS´81 by the authors. In den meantime field applications followed with this instrument and some improvements concerning the handling of the apparatus on board and the welding technique could be achieved. The results of these applications are described. They demonstrate the possibility of getting profiles in form of graphical presentations over a whole water column depth for every single kind of plankton. Besides this it is informed about an advanced welding technique in situ.
