Abstract
For some time now, information specialists have felt that networking is the solution to the problem of information exchange; however, due to the cost, acquiring this ability has been impractical for most of the small to medium sized information centers. These information centers have been "locked out" of the technology of the day and "chained" to the world of paper (Fig. 1). With the advent of the "multicomputer," information specialists now have the multi-user tool needed for automating information banks and making them available to anyone, anywhere, at anytime. This will revolutionize the information flow and make available to the end user massive amounts of information. Information centers can now provide online access to their files and, if desired, downloading capabilities.
