  • Abstract
    The joint video team of the ISO/IEC moving picture experts group and the ITU-T video coding experts group is currently standardizing a scalable extension of the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video coding standard. This scalable video coding project has achieved a significant level of coding efficiency and a remarkable number of supported degrees of scalability, however a thorough evaluation of its performance according with different configurations of the input parameters is still needed. This paper wants to provide a contribution in this sense, by means of preliminary tests examining the rate distortion performances of the joint scalable video model, when different Motion Search options are selected.
