Abstract
Path loss measurements in an urban microcell environment are reported so that they may be added to the small pool of published measurements and to contribute to the development of propagation models for urban microcellular systems. Signal strength measurements have been carried out at 881 MHz in downtown Tampa, Florida, with low transmitting antenna heights (30 ft and 15 ft). Various transmitter locations were chosen. After analysis, the measurement data were categorized in three different classes representing line-of-sight (LOS) propagation, non-LOS propagation in a street parallel to the LOS street (non-LOS-||), and non-LOS propagation in street perpendicular to the LOS street (non-LOS-⊥). The characteristics of these three categories are described
