Abstract
Summary form only given. We present a laser nonlinear spectroscopy experiment that we designed and implemented to perform a new test of the frequency difference in the spectrum of the enantiomers of a chiral. Preliminary experimental tests have been conducted on hyperfine components of vibration-rotation of CHFClBr in the 9.3 /spl mu/m spectral range. The frequencies of saturation resonances of separated enantiomers have been compared and found to be identical within 13 Hz. This high sensitivity frequency comparison has been a strong motivation for the first theoretical estimate of parity nonconserving energy difference in CHFClBr. In this way, three research groups calculated this effect in CHFClBr and obtained the same order of magnitude for parity violating frequency difference, for the /spl nu//sub 4/ vibration, at 10/sup -16/ level although various kind of calculations were performed: non-relativistic and relativistic calculations.
