Abstract :
Iron-rich rare-earth intermetallic compounds of the type R3(Fe,M)29 3:29 have been drawing considerable attention in the recent years owing to their projected applications as permanent magnet materials. They have been reported to form in monoclinic structure with A2/m space group. All the compounds have been found to form in 3:29 phase as the major phase with 1:12 phase as the secondary phase and traces of alpha-Fe, through the analysis of the X-ray diffractograms. The lattice parameters are found to increase with increasing Al concentrations. The magnetization measurements carried out at 300 K are found to decrease with Al addition. The anisotropy fields determined from the magnetization curves using the singular point detection method (SPD) are found to decrease with the value of x.
