Abstract :
The Sea Torch®electrode holder and Sea-JetTMexothermic electrodes are used throughout the diving industry to perform underwater cutting operations. The single unit molded construction, the spark arrestor design and a brass oxygen supply tube make the Sea Torch electrode holder electrically safe and very rugged. This torch´s design makes it easy to handle, very maneuverable, and reduces diver fatigue. The Arcair Sea Jet exothermic electrode will cut through most materials found in underwater salvage work. The exothermic reaction created by this electrode and oxygen will cut or melt through materials from steel to wood. After establishing an arc, the electrical power can be shut off and this electrode will continue to operate. By operating without electrical power the diver´s chance of electric shock is greatly reduced. With power, divers can cut one inch steel at a rate of 38 to 42 inches per minute. Without power, cutting rates of 20 to 25 inches per minute can be attained easily.
