Abstract :
An advanced air interface for mobile communications systems is proposed to enhance radio spectrum utilization and to offer integrated services. The proposed interface has a three-layer signaling structure that is optimized from the network and mobile point of view. A novel cell selection logic based on fuzzy logic and a new channel assignment strategy are also proposed to improve radio transmission features. These techniques can be directly applied to future mobile radio systems, including personal telecommunication systems
