Abstract :
A compact, light in weight array antenna using a spiral element is proposed for satellite communications in portable use. The antenna consists of an antenna panel and a reflector. A dielectric substrate is used for the antenna panel, on which is etched the spiral elements and the feed circuit on both sides of the dielectric substrate. Thus, the antenna panel and the reflector are completely separate to each other. Therefore, it is convenient to carry the antenna because of the possibility of integration of the antenna panel and reflector
