Abstract :
We focus on the bandwidth allocation for asynchronous traffic on FDDI ring. The original FDDI target token rotation protocol can not meet the bandwidth requirement of an interworking unit (IWU) since all station on the ring are allocated the same bandwidth while the IWU may expect much higher traffic load. By properly adjusting the target token rotation time of the IWU, we can allocate the bandwidth to the IWU and other stations proportional to their traffic load ratio. The details of how to adjust the TTRT and how the adjustment affects the behaviors of FDDI ring are discussed and presented
