Abstract
Basically, the operation of slot reuse-in DQDB networks can produce extra slot resources for the system. In order to guarantee a fair sharing of the extra capacity created by erased slots, a special protocol called reuse protocol should be considered. An efficient reuse protocol for DQDB slot reuse is proposed. Based on computer simulation, it is observed that this new reuse protocol can efficiently transfer the extra capacity from downstream nodes to upstream nodes, which results in a fair sharing of the extra resources and provides a good performance in access delay as well as slot throughput
