Abstract :
In this paper, we utilize the general joint ML idea of Moon et al. [Timing recovery in conjuntion with maximum likelihood sequence detection in the presence of intersymbol interference] but with a new phase error function and consider application to high density perpendicular recording. The new phase error function provides performance similar to that of Moon´s but allows easier implementation.
