Knowledge Search Abroad and Innovation Performance: An Empirical Study of Chinese High-Tech Firms

Abstract :
Under the background of low income of high-tech industry based on the mode of FDI, and Chinese firms gradually lose out in the competition of the high-tech product export, we construct the research model of the relationship knowledge search of R&D teams of high-tech firms, and innovation performance. Through the empirical study, we find that our R&D teams of high-tech firms are insufficient of oversea learning, and there are two different but opposite knowledge search strategies. Based on the strategy of searching deep knowledge abroad, firms can make a follow and imitational innovation mode, and from the strategy of searching wide knowledge abroad, firms can make an combining innovation and domestic market leader mode.
