Abstract :
The authors describe a statistical approach to modeling the performance of optical networks in the local loop. A quantitative discussion is given on the advantages of a statistical modeling technique over the previously used worst-case analysis. Validation of the predicted results is shown by a comparison with measured trial network values. Model results are shown to determine the most efficient use of network and system components
