Abstract
This paper presents a microstrip 4×8 retrodirective array which consists of two 4×4 sub-arrays. These two 4×4 sub-arrays employ proximity-coupled microstrip ring antennas as the array elements. The design frequency of the ring antenna is 5.8 GHz and the antenna produces voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and axial ratio less than 1.5 and 1 dB, respectively. The designed 4×8 retrodirective array is tested through electromagnetic (EM) simulation. In the simulation, the plane wave incidents at two different angles (θt=±30°) for a bistatic radar cross section (RCS).
