  • Abstract
In this study, we employ X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) of the La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 and La0.8Ba0.2MnO3 films with various thicknesses to understand the mechanism of the tensile-strain effect. The ferromagnetic-paramagnetic and the metal-insulator transition temperatures of the colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) thin film can be changed by the tensile-strain effect due to a lattice mismatch between the thin film and substrate. The XANES measurements reveal the details of the coupling between cations and anions. The opposite tendency of peaks intensity for thin and thick LCMO and LBMO films suggests that the mechanism of the tensile strain rely on both O-La and O-Mn couplings.
