Abstract
The MOD´s experience and practices for the application, maintenance, and remval of erodable anti-fouling paints, and other anti-fouling paints containing organotin, will be described. Data relating to the problem of contamination arising from overspray will be presented. The programme being established to monitor the environmental impact of the removal of anti-fouling paints and of paints containing lead and copper will be described. The practical prospects for maintaining the benefits derived from the use of organotin anti-fouling paints by the Royal Navy and other MOD organisations while limiting the quantities of organotin released into the environment will be discussed.
