Abstract :
In this paper, we present the performance of the conventional Uniplanar Compact Photonic Band Gap (UC-PBG) structure operating as an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) under different bending conditions. The performance of the AMC is mainly characterized by the operational frequency and bandwidth which can be extracted from its reflection phase response. Modeling and numerical analysis of UC-PBG has been carried out using the commercially available software High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) which is based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). We show that the extent of bending affect the reflection phase profile which in turn leads to operational frequency shift and bandwidth degradation. To the best knowledge of the authors, this kind of study is being conducted for the first time.
