Abstract :
In this paper, we study the maximum number of users that each base station can support on a frequency selective fading channel. In practice, for wideband communications the fading channel can be modeled as a frequency-selective fading channel. We use the wide sense stationary uncorrelated-scattering (WSSUS) channel model for the fading process in this study. Based on assumptions made for the delay cross-power density, we analyzed the desired user´s signal quality in a CDMA system in the presence of an existing narrowband signal. Exploitation of different orders of effective diversity at the receiver have also been considered. Finally, we compare the system capacity realized for various channel models
