  • Abstract
A novel dmit2- complex: [C7H7 (C2H5)3N] [Au (dmit)2 ] (BTEAADT) was synthesized. The thin film of BTEAADT doped into poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was prepared using spin-coating method. Its third- order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties were investigated using Z-scan technique at the wavelength of 1064 nm with laser pulse duration of 20 ps. The linear optical properties of the thin film were also studied. A self-defocusing effect was observed from the Z-scan curve and no nonlinear absorption was observed in the experimental conditions. The nonlinear refractive index is calculated to be -3.978×10-15m2/w. The figures of merit were evaluated for their value of potential application on all-optical switching (AOS) devices, etc.
