Abstract :
A novel concurrent 2-port/3-port MIMO antenna system for UMTS/LTE2500 operation in the mobile phone is demonstrated. The antenna system mainly consists of two back-to-back printed symmetrical hybrid antennas and a dual-loop antenna arranged between them. The hybrid antenna can easily cover the required bandwidth for UMTS/LTE2500 operation. The dual-loop antenna can cover the required bandwidth for LTE2500 operation. Good isolation and low correlation coefficient is obtained between antenna ports for the two hybrid antennas over the UMTS band to achieve a 2-port MIMO antenna system, and for the three antennas over the LTE2500 band to achieve a 3-port MIMO antenna system.
