Abstract :
A refractometer based on single-multi-single mode fiber (SMS) structure is demonstrated experimentally. The wavelength-encoding based demodulation is proposed and realized by the broadband source ASE and optical spectral analyzer. A corresponding HF corrosion method is proposed to improve the sensitivity of the SMS refractometer. Experimental and simulation results are given to prove the feasibility of the improved SMS refractometer.
