Abstract :
The cross-sensitive function of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is deduced and analyzed theoretically in detail from the perspective of its physical mechanism when the FBG is affected by temperature and transverse pressure. Meanwhile, examples of different external physical factors and fiber parameters are considered for illustration purposes. Furthermore, with the numerical simulation, some valuable suggestions about how to reduce the systematic error and improve the measurement accuracy are put forward as well. The proposed theoretical study may help to understand the properties of cross sensitivity of FBG affected by temperature and transverse pressure and provide useful guidance to the further research and applications of FBG sensors in the future.
