Abstract :
An analysis of the skin effect factor (SEF) for the bar extension of squirrel cage induction machines (SCIM) is described and show how this factor changes as the length of the bar extension is varied. The end region of the machine is modeled using a commercial 3D finite element (FE) package in order to gain some insight into this phenomenon.
