  • Abstract
    The performance of several high rate serial concatenated convolutional codes are analyzed far a broadband packet-based satellite communication system. Using the iterative decoding algorithm, simulation results for bit error rate and frame error rate performance are presented for various codes of interest. Improved performance bounds are given that are computed using a set of recursion relations. These bounds are used to investigate the performance at the “error floor”. Furthermore, the difference between the bound and iterative decoding simulation are compared for a short packet size
