  • Abstract
The pursuit of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) as a design philosophy is discussed. Technical misunderstandings are described. It is suggested that the EMC engineer should respect the designers´ intent and expertise, demonstrate the problem, and document results creatively. The perception of benefit vs. cost is discussed. It is seen as the responsibility of the EMC engineer to identify those who need to know about EMC educate them, focus on cost, and work toward changing the process
