Abstract :
In this paper, the magnetic media´s thermal distribution along the cross-track direction is investigated by using HAMR spin-stand. The thermal profiles in cross track direction at different laser power and rotation speed are investigated. The thermal profile width increases with the laser power increase. At high laser power, the profile is not symmetrical, inner tracks have more net temperature increase. This implies that the thermal effect on the inner tracks is more serious. The lower the rotation speed, the higher the temperature increase, and the wider the thermal profile.
