Abstract :
In this study, supported by the remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques, using social and economic statistical data and remotely sensed data of natural resources which spanned 13 years from 1986 to 1998, the current situations and trends of sustainable development in China were analyzed. The index system, methods and techniques for sustainable development evaluation based on remote sensing data were discussed. The situations of sustainable development in China from 1986 to 1998 were evaluated, and the trend of sustainable development in China was analyzed.
