Abstract :
This paper investigates the use of radio-over-fiber as a means to simultaneously distribute WLAN, UWB and gigabit Ethernet signals over a multimode-based infrastructure. Performances of both multiband OFDM UWB (MB-OFDM) and impulse radio UWB (UWB-IR) are evaluated. EVM and BER of WLAN and gigabit Ethernet are also presented in such a complex co-existence experiment. Various parameters such as fiber length, signal power and data rates are systematically evaluated to illustrate the effects on the performance of each of the signals. Experimental results presented in this paper on ROF show promising prospects for simultaneous UWB and Gigabit Ethernet and WLAN signal distribution.
