Abstract
The video CD player market continues to enjoy growing popularity. The paper presents a comprehensive insight into a video CD player design. The design illustrates the building blocks required to realize the hardware, including the CD pickup mechanism, the CD servo circuit, the MPEG A/V decoder, the video and audio processing circuit, microcontroller and other peripheral components. The firmware, executed by a single microcontroller, is also presented. The design can be implemented readily by a set of competitively priced semiconductors
