  • Abstract
    Reliability and cost evaluation of switchgear configurations in HV/MV substations are described. The evaluation methodology is used to analyse projects at four Norwegian electric utilities. One of these projects is presented. The results show that the total equipment and interruption costs will be lowest by using simple switchgear solutions. This paper describes how the switchgear configurations in HV/MV substations can be simplified without reducing the reliability to an unacceptable level. The reliability calculations show that simplification in some cases even will increase the reliability
