Abstract
We discuss the characteristics associated with different operation modes of a recently introduced orbiting sphere viscometer. In particular, the sensor setup allows orbiting and oscillating operation modes where these modes lead to different resonance characteristics, which depend on the actuation amplitude. We investigate the characteristics of these actuation modes experimentally and present a refined mathematical model considering the dependence on the amplitude.
