Abstract
In this paper, the magnetic disturbance inside and in the vicinity of the SMTS is investigated by comparing the results of 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) with measurements. The small mus of a sample of the concrete foundation of the spacecraft magnetic test site (SMTS) and the ground in the vicinity of the SMTS were measured by a vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM). The mus of the ground and concrete are about 1.03 and 1.01, respectively. From these measurements, it can be assumed that the ground has weak magnetism that is a little higher than that of concrete. This assumption coincides with that of the analysis as described above.
